Freedmen’s, Austin, Texas. Apparently they have such good BBQ that they do not even require a real website.
Nestled in West Campus near the University of Texas, Freedmen’s serves up sophisticated BBQ that begs you to eat with your hands. Their house made pickles may have actually been my favorite. Go figure. And don’t tell Evan LeRoy, the Pitmaster and Executive Chef!

This was an exciting edition of New Food Tuesday for me. It was my first time to meet fellow food bloggers with the Austin Food Bloggers Alliance AND it was their first cookbook launch party! Look for me in the 2nd edition! (Just kidding, that could take years!)
Any place that wants a special place in my heart should serve Circle Blurs. My current fave local beer. Perhaps of all time.
But without further adieu, BBQ food pics served up family style! I tasted the brisket, sausage, and pickles. Good thing I had green juice for lunch!
