There are two
evil toxins ‘foods’ that I am cutting out of my diet for October: 1) sugar and 2) caffeine. Technically, I do not think these are foods. Anyway, guess who has a headache on day 2?

This recipe popped into my head as I was thinking about a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. But I decided after drinking so much rich and delicious coffee in Europe, that I am giving up Starbucks forever. That aside, I also do not want to drink the orange dye, aka pumpkin spice sugar syrup, that the friendly barista pumps into your drink.

Vegan Pumpkin Spice Smoothie
1 can pumpkin, frozen in cubes, use 3 cubes per smoothie
1/2 frozen banana
3/4 – 1 c almond milk
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
1 t ground flax seeds
1/2 t chia seeds
2 T almond butter (I only had sliced almonds, so I used those. Whole almonds would work too if your blender is a badass like mine.)
1/4 t vanilla
3-4 ice cubes
Throw everything in your high-powered blender or Vitamix for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Garnish with cinnamon and sliced almonds, if desired. (You should desire.)
